“We have been 'soft' looking for another house for years, but at the beginning of 2021 we decided to take the next step and get more serious. We were living in a bungalow at the time and because of the pandemic, our remodel schedule was being pushed out and construction costs were going up, so it made more sense to move.
We had our mind set on Applewood; It's close to the city and to the mountains, they have larger lots there and a lot of mature trees. It's a suburban mountain retreat on the edge of the city.
We had a lot of wants, and one of them was enough bathrooms for everyone. In our bungalow, we shared a bathroom with our growing son, so we were ready to have our own. We were also looking for RV parking, more yard space and enough upgrades so that we didn't have to remodel very much.
We needed to find a place before we could sell the place we were in. It was a bit nerve racking to be in a seller's market as a buyer. It also felt like we were racing against time to beat the inevitable interest rate hikes that we are now seeing in the market.
Amanda helped us as a buyer and a seller so when we got serious, Amanda helped us get aggressive in the market. Our third offer on this house was accepted and we were in our Applewood home by the summer of 2021. That same summer, we sold our other home through Amanda.
Our favorite room is definitely the family room. We love the big open, vaulted space! Our favorite feature of the house is the views of the mountains and reservoir from many of the rooms. That's why we live in Colorado, right?! The mid-century style is kind of cool too.
So many great memories have been made in the year that we’ve lived here - Our lacrosse and basketball sessions in the driveway/yard being the most memorable thus far.
